Naked Palette by Urban Decay Review

Today I'm doing a review of one of the most well known and well loved palettes in the cosmetic world. You guessed it, it's Naked by Urban Decay!

Included I have ingredients, price points, their website, and a look I did using only what was provided with the palette.

So, let's get to it.

First off let's talk about the packaging. It's a velvety exterior that tends to like to have things stick to it as you can see in the picture below. While, this is annoying it's so soft that I can forgive it. But, as a note make sure you keep this palette in a clean place to avoid having it look gross and collect dust, dirt, and hair.

Here are the first six shades of the twelve. Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar, Buck, and Half Baked. Urban Decay has a habit of using odd/inappropriate names that can sometimes make the question "What color are you wearing?" a tad awkward.
Virgin is a nice neutral champagne color that I find useful as a base. It has a nice texture to wear, but as with many shadows in this palette, has some fall out. Sin is a nice rosey, shimmery shade that works well as a highlight for your brow bone or inner lid. I wouldn't use it as a base, simply because of the shimmer factor but if that's your thing, go for it! Naked is another good base color, but it's a tad darker than Virgin and has more bronze tones. If you're going for a very neutral, subtle look this could even be used as a crease color. Sidecar is one of my favorite shades in the palette. It's a beautiful, glittery rose gold that is very highly pigmented and versatile. It can be used as a highlight, or a base color for a night look. Buck is a nice taupe shade. It's simple and matte and even though I wasn't super impressed with the basicness of the color, it ended up being one of the most used color in the palette. It can be used with pretty much any skin tone and goes on incredibly smoothly. Half Baked is a nice, pure golden shimmer color. It is highly pigmented and you don't need a lot of product to get a high color payoff. Again, I use this a lot paired with Sidecar for night looks and sometimes as a shimmer highlight. Another beautiful shade.  Below I've included what these colors look like in the palette and some swatches of how they look on the inside of my arm.

The second six are darker, more hard hitting colors. They are Smog, Darkhorse, Toasted, Hustle, Creep, and Gunmetal. Smog is a nice color that isn't too shimmery and no too dark that would overpower the entire look. Darkhorse is another one of my favorite colors in the palette. It's almost an olive green shade with golden undertones. It's simply beautiful. I tend to use it as a crease color, even during the day just because I love this color so much. Toasted is another nice golden color, with some pink undertones and shimmer. It has some bronze elements to it to that really look nice when paired with some of the mattes in this palette. Hustle is a good shade, but not one I tend to use much. It's similar to the others when applied, but looks so different in the palette that I tend to skip over it. In the palette it looks almost gray, but when applied it has a browner tone with a little shimmer. Creep is another color that I rarely use except for when I'm using eye shadow as eyeliner. It's a very dark grey with some silver shimmer. Gunmetal is a dark blue silver color that applied nicely and is nice in thought, but when applied isn't as dark and as pigmented as it should be.

Included in the palette is a dual ended brush. One is a basic brush with a thin end that I find very useful to apply dark colors along my crease or in the outer V of my lid. The other end is a large fluffy blending brush that works like a charm. I would love for Urban Decay to just sell this brush by itself, but alas they do not and you can only get them in the Naked palettes.

Below is a look I did using just the colors and brush provided in the palette. For a base, I used Sidecar and swept it all over the lid using the basic end of the brush. I then took Smog and swept it around my crease and a little bit above as I have hooded eyes. I then took the fluffy ended part of he brush and blended the two colors together, making sure to erase any harsh lines. I then took the other end of the brush and applied Darkhorse in my outer V. I then blended it softly as not to loose the color and have it become muddied with the other two colors.

All in all, I think Naked is a good beginner palette with lots of versatile colors that work with lots of skin tones and eye colors. However, it doesn't contain many allergy friendly ingredients, so make sure to be careful if you are sensitive to different dyes. The palette retails for $54.00 US and can be found in Sephora, Ulta, and on the Urban Decay Website.

Thanks for reading and please let me know what you think in the comments below! Naked 2 and Naked 3 will be up later this week!
