Shadow Box by Urban Decay Review

Good morning everybody! I hope your day is going fantastic so far :]

Today I'm doing a review of the Shadow Box from Urban Decay. First, let's look at the packaging.

The outer packaging is a step away from the plastic shell that Naked 2 and Naked 3 have. This is more hard cardboard that has had purple and black imaging superimposed on it. The large UD on the side of the palette is a nice touch, and what truly makes this palette an Urban Decay palette. It's a nice handle to use to open and close the palette as well.

Upon opening the palette you see a ton of wasted space. These shadows don't have as much shadow as the Naked palettes in the pan, and I feel like Urban Decay could have utilized some of that empty space to include more shadow. The inside also has a nice large mirror with it, a feature I rarely use.

There are 12 shades in total in the Shadow Box, with colors ranging from shimmery champagne to sparkly navy blue. The first eight shades (shown below) are Sin, Indo, Bordello, Tornado, Flask, Mushroom, Lost, and Freelove. Sin is a shade we have seen before. It's a peachy pink with some silver sparkles. It wears well as a base color. Indo is an emerald green with some shimmer. It's a color I rarely use mainly because I'm not a green kind of girl, but the formula also is quite patchy and hard to apply. Bordello is another nice color, it's a deeper dusty rose that we've seen before. It has some gold glitter in it that don't blend very well into the color and causes quite a bit of fallout. Tornado is a deep plum purple. It's a warm shade but has trouble sticking when applied. It seemed quite dry and flaky. Flash is a bright, light purple with silver undertones. This applied easier than Tornado, but still had some issues with patchiness. Mushroom is a nice deep silver color with some sparkles. It has some mauve undertones and wears well on the lid after being applied. Lost is a nice deep taupe color with some redish undertones. This formula was easier to apply than some of the other colors and is one of my favorites in the palette. Freelove is a bright coral orange color that looks beautiful in the palette, but lacks the depth needed to make is an effective shade.

Smog is another color we've seen before, it's a deep golden color with some shimmer. This applies nicely and goes well with Lost or Bordello. Blackout is a simple matte black color. It's hard to apply and flakes often, creating unsightly under-eye fallout. Moonshadow is a really nice color. I love the navy blue color and silver sparkles. It has some application issues but because of it's unique coloration I can get over it. Baked Cowboy is another shade we've seen in the Naked palettes and isn't anything special. It's nicely pigmented and has good payoff, but is boring compared to some other colors in the palette.
