Lotions

Hello fellow allergy sufferers!

Today I'm going to be talking about drum roll please LOTION!

Yes, lotion. The bane of allergy sufferers existence. We commonly suffer from dry skin as well, but often can't remedy it due to the insane amount of dyes, scents, and chemicals added.

I've found two lotion that I've found work for me that can be found in a local grocery store.

The first one may not be safe for those with chocolate allergies since it is derived from the cocoa plant. It also may pose a risk for those with nut allergies as cross contamination CAN occur. Some dyes are also present, but in trace amounts.

Queen Helene Cocoa Butter Hand and Body Lotion

Queen Helen Cocoa Butter is a great all purpose moisturizer. It goes on smooth, somewhat watery, but rubs in quickly and absorbs into the skin nicely. Below is a swatch I did on my bare arm to showcase the consistency of it. You can see already it's quite drippy and needs to be rubbed in so it doesn't get everywhere!

Consistency of Queen Helene
After rubbing the lotion in, it left a pleasant scent that wasn't overpowering of unnatural smelling. It smelled somewhat of chocolate, as you can guess from the name but the smell soon dissipated and you were simply left with nice, smooth, moisturized skin.

Ingredients as listen on the bottle, potential allergens are marked with an * : Water, Paraffinum Liquidum (Mineral Oil)*, Stealic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Propylene Glycol, Thobroma Cacao Seed Butter*, Stearyl Alcohol, Disodium EDTA, Lanolin*, Methylparaben, Benzyl Benzoate, Coumarin, Fragrance*, Yellow 5*, Yellow 6*, Red 40*, and Red 33*.

Next up, my new favorite lotion! I use it daily on my face and it provides an incredible amount of moisture. It goes on smooth and is so thick it's almost a solid. It contains sweet almond oil, so this product would not be suitable for those with severe nut allergies. It does not contain any fragrance or dyes!

Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream
This is a product I began using when I noticed an increase in dry skin attacks, especially on my face. I primary use it one in the morning after my shower as water tends to suck out any moisture I had in my face, and once more after I take my makeup off for the day to lock in moisture throughout the night. Below is another swatch showing the consistency of the product on my bare arm.

Consistency of Cetaphil
You can really see the thickness in this picture! It also does not move once it's applied, no dripping here! After it was rubbed in, you can really feel the moisture absorb into the skin. You need to give it a few minutes to fully absorb before putting on any more product on top of it, but that shouldn't take more than five minutes.
